About Me
Get to know Jaime...
My name is Jaime and I am a freelance writer. To the uninitiated, that means that you tell me to write something, and then i go write it. (There is payment involved somewhere in there, of course. Hey, a girl's got to live!) You might be looking for a writer who is highly organized, detail- and deadline-oriented and professional, and I fit that description! Pinky promise! I like to write conversationally and with a touch of humor. (I try to keep my innate sarcasm under wraps.) I have written about many topics, including parenting, teaching, lifestyle, digital art and photography, funny situations and health and nutrition. I was also a ghostwriter for two novels. I am currently writing in the areas of eco-friendly luxury items and health/nutrition.
Who am I to say I am a writer, you ask? I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, which I used in my former life as a second grade and preschool teacher. I worked for a non-profit organization where I wrote newsletters, curriculum, business letters, grants and other various projects focused on children’s nutrition. I am the Volunteer Coordinator and Development assistant for the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate where I handle all volunteers and social media/publications. And, just for fun, (yes, really) I completed the course “Writing for Children and Teenagers,” which is where I discovered I really loved to write. (Actually, I always knew that, but now I had proof that other people thought I could, too. That’s always nice.)
Most of my life was spent in Maine, where I was born and grew up. While I have nothing personal against Maine, her winters and I really weren’t getting along. So we moved to Arkansas in August of 2005, three months after I had my daughter Sophie. She's now seven...eeek! There is a whole other set of things to be leery of down here in the South, such as tarantulas and tornadoes, but so far Arkansas and I are on good terms, hundred degree summer days be darned. As I mentioned before, I spent most of my time after graduating college as a teacher, or working in the education field, because that’s what I figured a person should do with an Education degree.
However, I have had a freelance business for a few years now and I am starting the heed the call of being a writer rather than being a teacher, student loans be darned. Among my personal interests, I consider digital art and design to be in the forefront at the moment. I am also interested in reading practically anything, art and painting, anything going on in the world of entertainment (I am a celebrity news junkie. Please don’t ask why.), and I am a big fan of coffee. Every writer needs a vice and this is mine. "Behind every successful person is a substantial amount of coffee."
I am very interested in your writing project! If my writing style and personality suit your needs, then I would be happy to write for you. Thank you for taking the time to read my life story, such as it is, and I look forward to hearing from you!
